Happy Streets Festival Returns to Battersea This Summer
Happy Streets Festival is back for 2026, bringing another weekend of free activities, live performances and community events to Battersea’s Thessaly Road and surrounding neighbourhood.
Taking place on 4 and 5 July, the festival has become a regular fixture in the local calendar, celebrating the creativity, diversity and community spirit that make this part of Wandsworth unique. Since launching in 2019, Happy Streets has grown from a local community initiative into a popular annual event that attracts families, residents and visitors from across the borough.
Inspired by Yinka Ilori's colourful transformation of the Thessaly Road railway underpass, the festival was created to encourage people to come together, enjoy shared experiences and make the most of local public spaces.
This year's programme includes live music, dance workshops, arts and crafts, guided walks, food stalls and a range of family-friendly activities. Organisers are also promising plenty of opportunities to get involved, whether that's trying something new, supporting local performers or simply spending time with neighbours and friends in a relaxed festival atmosphere.
Previous festivals have shown just how much enthusiasm there is for community-led events in Battersea. Despite unpredictable British summer weather, residents have continued to turn out in large numbers, helping Happy Streets establish itself as one of the area's most anticipated summer gatherings. The festival's mix of creativity, participation and local pride has helped it build a loyal following over the years.
With free entry and activities for all ages, Happy Streets Festival 2026 looks set to be another enjoyable weekend for the local community. Whether you're a regular attendee or discovering it for the first time, it's a chance to experience the energy and creativity that continue to shape Battersea and Nine Elms.
If you're looking for something to do over the first weekend of July, Happy Streets is well worth a visit. Whether you want to catch some live music, get involved in a workshop, grab something to eat or simply enjoy the atmosphere, there should be plenty going on throughout the weekend. Best of all, it's free to attend and offers a great chance to spend time in the community and discover something new close to home.
